The Avon Grove High School Marching Band has established a long and storied tradition of parade success. This year’s band includes 90 instrumentalists and 19 guard members. As the 2008 Fall Season begins, the band is coming off of their finest 4-year stretch ever. The Marching Red Devils secured top honors in every parade in which they participated in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. These include the Solanco Fair Parade, the Ephrata Fair Parade, the New Holland Spectacle of Bands Parade and the Baltimore (MD) Columbus Day Parade. They were featured as the Honor Band in the 2006 New Holland Parade, and are invited back again in 2008 with the same honor. The band has participated in the Indy 500 Festival and Pre-race Pageant on three occasions (1995, 1999, 2007). Over the years, the band has also traveled to Boston (MA), Toronto (ONT), Myrtle Beach (SC), Cleveland (OH) and Norfolk/Virginia Beach (VA). The band has performed pre-game shows for both the Philadelphia Phillies and the Cleveland Indians. The band was a longtime participant, and multiple award winner at the Miss America Parade on the boardwalk in Atlantic City (NJ) before that event was relocated.
Repertoire for the 2008-09 parade season includes Grandioso by Roland Seitz and Semper Fidelis by John Philip Sousa. This year’s marching band show is “West Side Story” featuring many favorites.
